Good advice. I think I lost 20 years of poetic productivity from taking Rilke’s advice too literally. Also, you are funny.

Good poets write a lot. Rilke was able to write a lot and have his profound silences, distances, sufferings, by taking advantaged of aristocratic ladies and loafing around in other people's castles lol.

If you read it as a series of prose poems there are some good passages, but I don't think he gave great advice...more a projection of his own trip.
